Carrara Marble Countertops - say "yes"

You want it so bad...

You know it is the thing that will set the tone for all else.

Classic, on trend & yet utterly trendless, beautiful, cool to the touch, perfectly imperfect.

But all you read is bad news & tales of caution.

Search after search reveals words like "etch", "stain", "high maintenance" ~ what a downer.

You think, but, but but...what about all those french bakeries, the Abbey, Dean & Deluca counters?

How can it be that good & that bad?

All you want is someone who took the plunge into the quarry already to tell you, "Go for it!

Well, my friend you have found that person ~ me.

"GO FOR IT!"

Get the Carrara marble countertops of your kitchen dreams.  Live it - love it!

I did and I do ~ for better & for worse, in etching & in beauty.

Sure, there will be etches & scratches.  ( there need not be stains ~ read here )

Truth is, the first etch is the deepest - like the first ding on your new car, but you get over it.

My Carrara marble countertops & I have been together for 5 months.

Every morning when I enter the kitchen I sigh in contentment ~ I am in love.

There has been a "ding" or two, but my love grows deeper.

Here is an example of some of the patina you can expect.

The white dots are etches ( read here ) and the other is a scratch of unknown origin ~ no one is fessing up.

The etches came from my husband's orange juice habit. ( he could have worse habits, so I can't complain? )

He is a bit too exuberant a pourer, but I am with him for better or for worse too.  So we go on...

I read, maybe even more than you, about how difficult Carrara would be, how it stains ( it doesn't stain ) & how I would end up regretting the decision.

Hmmm, I sense you are thinking 'everyone says it stains, it must stain'.  Let me show you how it does not stain.

I spotted this dark blotch over by the french press, so whadda' think it is?  With one wipe of a clean sponge - it disappears.  I swear! Carrara marble stain removed http://mysoulfulhome.com

Despite all the negativity, I decided, even though I am a bit of a type A perfectionist, to go for it!

Countertop, backsplash & my kitchen table top ~ all Carrara marble.

Couldn't be happier with my kitchen and I have no regrets!!

Even though, I might line stuff up every time I open the fridge & can't have a piece of fruit with a sticker on it in my bowl, the patina on my marble isn't troubling me.

I actually think the patina is improving the look ~ now if I could just the feel the same about my face!

There is a product that can help with the inevitable etch in your Carrara marble countertops.  It is MB Stone Care Marble Polishing Powder.  I will try it out & let you know what I think in the next installment of my Carrara series.

Go into a relationship with Carrara in the kitchen with your eyes wide.  It is good that you read all the negative press.  But don't believe everything you read.

If after all those "cons", you are still dreaming of Carrara and hoping someone would help you say YES ~ I just did.

Go for it!
