Irish Soda Bread Recipe

How is it March 1st? Feels like I was just putting away the last of Christmas.
Maybe 'cause I was just putting away the last of Christmas!
Moving right along … my thoughts turn to the Emerald Isle this time of year.
Sharing my Great Grandmother's recipe for Irish Soda Bread today. It is the most moist and delicious version I have ever eaten.
Irish Soda Bread Recipe from My Soulful Home to yours:
- 3 cups flour;
- 1/2 cup sugar;
- 1 TB baking powder;
- 1 tp salt;
- 1/2 tp baking soda;
- 1 cup raisins;
- 1 TB caraway seeds;
- 1 1/2 cup buttermilk;
- 4 TB melted butter
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Coat pan with melted butter or oil & dust with flour.
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt & baking soda in a large bowl.
Stir in raisins & caraway seeds with a fork.
Blend in the buttermilk & melted butter until evenly moist.
Turn into pan(s). Cut an X on top & bake … until a knife comes out clean.
I make lots of mini loaves to give to my neighbors. And, I freeze some for April, May & June. This is "worth it" bread!
Snatch up some mini pans if you don't have some on hand. I ordered this multi loaf one as I already have 3 separate pans. These paper pans would actually be great for giving loaves as gifts.
